۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They desired to outwit him; so We made them the worse losers, 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
