The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear. 1 How strongly the unbelievers will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy life and let false hopes amuse them. They will soon come to know. 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 Every nation can only live for the time appointed for it. 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels if what you say is true". 7 We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have! 8 We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 No Messenger went to them whom they did not mock. 11 even so We cause it to enter into the hearts of the sinners -- 12 They believe not therein, and already the example of the ancients hath gone forth. 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 Even then they would say, “Our sights have been hypnotised – in fact, a magic spell has been cast upon us.” 15
