The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
