The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
