We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
