The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 They will hasten forward to the caller, gazes fixed. And the unbelievers will say: "This is the day of untold woe." 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
