The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
