The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
