Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 "And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink." 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
