The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
