Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
