۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 What, do we then not die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
