The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 then he mustered 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
