The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
