Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 Then those clouds bearing the load (of minute things in space). 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
