S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." 5 And the elders among them went forth saying: “Go ahead and be steadfast in adhering to your deities. What is being said is with a design.” 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 “Is the Qur’an which is sent to him, among us?” In fact they are in a doubt concerning My Book; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 This is only a small army out of the several armies that will suffer defeat here. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
