The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
