۞ It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful." 189 Thereafter, when He gave them a righteous son, they assigned Him associates in that He had given them; but God is high exalted above that they associate. 190 Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and they are [themselves] created? 191 No help can they give them, nor can they help themselves. 192 If you call them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is the same whether you call them or you are silent. 193 Indeed those whom you (the disbelievers) worship besides Allah are slaves like you – so call them and they may answer you, if you are truthful! 194 What, have they feet wherewith they walk, or have they hands wherewith they lay hold, or have they eyes wherewith they see, or have they ears wherewith they give ear? Say: 'Call you then to your associates; then try your guile on me, and give me no respite. 195 My guardian is Allah Who has revealed the Book, and it is He Who protects the righteous. 196 And those whom you call upon besides Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves. 197 If you call them to guidance, they will not hear you. You see them looking towards you, but they cannot see. 198 Take the abundance, and bid to what is honourable, and turn away from the ignorant. 199 If an evil impulse from Satan provokes you, seek refuge with God; He is all hearing, and all knowing. 200 If the God-fearing are instigated by any suggestion of Satan, they instantly become alert, whereafter they clearly perceive the right way. 201 But their brethren (the evil ones) plunge them deeper into error, and never relax (their efforts). 202 If thou bring them not a revelation, they say: "Why hast thou not got it together?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord: this is (nothing but) lights from your Lord, and Guidance, and mercy, for any who have faith." 203 When the Quran is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace, so that you may receive mercy. 204 And do thou (O reader!) Bring thy Lord to remembrance in thy (very) soul, with humility and in reverence, without loudness in words, in the mornings and evenings; and be not thou of those who are unheedful. 205 [even] the ones [angels] who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
