The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
