Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 when he ran away to the laden ship 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say, 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 Will you not, then, bethink yourselves? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 we are they that give glory. 166 What though they would say, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
