In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha. Mim. 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 Who do not give a due share of their wealth for the welfare of others, and do not believe in the Hereafter. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
