The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
