The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
All praise is to Allah Who sent down the Book upon His bondman, and has not kept any deviation in it. 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 In which they will abide forever. 3 And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie. 5 Then maybe you will kill yourself with grief, sorrowing after them, if they do not believe in this announcement. 6 We have adorned the earth with attractive things, so that We may test mankind as to which one is best in conduct, 7 Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). 8 Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? 9 When those youths took refuge in the cave, they prayed: "O our Sustainer! Bestow on us grace from Thyself, and endow us, whatever our [outward] condition, with consciousness of what is right!" 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 and then We awakened them: [and We did all this] so that We might mark out [to the world] which of the two points of view showed a better comprehension of the time-span during which they had remained in this state. 12
