The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 purify your garments; 4 stay away from sins 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he thought; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches the skin; 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
