[AND the tribe of] Ad gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and springs. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
