The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
