1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
