The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
