And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
