The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A written record, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
