Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged 15 and outspread carpets. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
