Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 [Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship. 140 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 “Or do you have some clear proof?” 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 So you and your deities 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 Except the one who will go into the blazing fire. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, 167 "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples, 168 we would have certainly been sincere servants of God". 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 And turn thou aside from them for a season. 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
Almighty God's Truth.
