S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Or, are with them the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Bestower? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
