Have you seen the one who turned away 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 Thamud, 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 and covered them with torment. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
