The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and gently take it away; 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
