Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And they will say, “Is there any one any magician?” 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
