The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
