The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
