And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 and you cannot elude Him on earth, and you will have none to protect you from God [in the life to come,] and none to bring you succour. 31 And among His signs are the ships that run on the sea like mountains and 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 And for those who dispute regarding Our signs to realise; that they do not have a place to escape to. 35 That which has been given to you is only the wherewithal of the transient life of this world. But that which is with Allah is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 Who avoid the deadly sins, immoral acts, and forgive when they are angered, 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. 40 And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame]. 41 The way of blame is only against those who wrong mankind, and rebel in the earth without justice; these! for them is a torment afflictive. 42 And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah. 43
