He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
