The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
