Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 “And they have an accusation against me, so I fear that they may kill me.” 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 “And you committed the deed of yours that you committed, and you were ungrateful.” 19 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him: "Do you hear (what he says)?" 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers. 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. 33
