and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
