The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And then said, "I am your most supreme lord." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear. 26
