A throng of the ancients 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 Such shall be your hospitality on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 74
