Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
