The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
