The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
