The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right. 38
