The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
